The way laser tattoo removal works it just like it says. Using lasers, they target the colors of the tattoo and break up the ink. Then you immune system kicks in and the color fades and begins to disappear. If your tattoo has a great deal of black in it you will find that it fades and disappears more quickly than a color such as green, red or purple. This is because the color black absorbs the heat of the laser more than a colored ink does.
It is going to take more than one visit to remove your tattoo
entirely. Depending on the size of the tattoo and how deep the ink was
injected into your skin with be there determining factor in how long it
takes before you see the results that you are hoping for. It will also
depend on you pain threshold and how long you can sit. If your tattoo
is extremely large, be prepared to make a number of trips to the
doctor’s office.
You many find that the doctor performing the procedure will recommend
that you take Tylenol or other non aspirin medication prior to the
session. This will help with some minor aches and pains that you may
have because of the laser procedure. When the procedure is complete,
the doctor will apply an antibiotic cream to the area and dress the
area with bandages so that it does not get infected. You will also
find that after the procedure you may notice some discoloration to your
skin in the surrounding areas. This is totally normal and will
eventually go away.
Getting a tattoo removed is a much larger expense than getting a tattoo
put on. It can cost you from a few hundred dollars to in excess of a
thousand dollars to get it removed. This is something you should
consider before getting a tattoo.
